The Warwick PAL 2025-26 youth basketball season has two options for boys and girls:

  • Little Warriors Skills & Drills Clinic for Kindergarten & 1st grade (beginner and intermediate level players)

  • Advanced Basketball League (ABL) for 2nd & 3rd-grade boys and girls (beginner and intermediate level players)

little warriors skills & drills Clinic

Kindergarten & 1st Grade coed division

This educational 7-week Saturday night winter program is designed to teach each player the fundamentals and rules of the game of basketball. Our experienced coaches will introduce essential basketball skills that are needed to play in a 5-on-5 game. This clinic will include coaching in the following areas:

  • Dribbling with both hands

  • Passing, catching, and moving without the ball

  • Pivoting and jump stops

  • Proper shooting form

  • 1 on 1 Defense

  • Rebounding

Please note: There are no “live 5 on 5 games” as beginner players will learn the basics before entering our Advanced Basketball League (ABL) in 2nd-3rd grade or will prepare players to compete for a spot on 3rd/4th grade travel team (no guarantees). Volunteer coaches are needed, so please email warwickyouthbasketballri.org if you are interested.

Each participant must bring their own 27.5-inch basketball and water bottle to each session.  Please enter your child’s shirt size in the notes section of registration. Registration is open until it reaches capacity at 50 total players.


Advanced basketball league (ABL)

2nd - 3rd grade boys & girls divison

The Advanced Basketball League (ABL) is a division designed to teach players how to play in a competitive game while continuing to improve their skills. This 7-week Saturday night winter league is for boys and girls in 2nd and 3rd grade.

Players may have some prior basketball experience, be considered intermediate, or developmental (designed for players who are looking for more than a recreational league). The ABL will prepare players to compete for a spot on a Warrior PAL travel team (no guarantees) in the 3rd and/or 4th grade Rhode Island Metro West League. Volunteer coaches are needed, so please email warwickyouthbasketballri.org if you are interested.

Details:

Each participant must bring their own 28.5-inch basketball and water bottle to each session.  Please enter your child’s shirt size in the notes section of registration. Registration is open until it reaches capacity at 40 total players.

How the ABL works:

  • Players will register, attend the first session (mandatory), and will be evaluated for placement for the remaining 6 sessions.

  • Each session is 1 hour and 15 minutes in length.

  • Each session is broken into two parts: 45 minutes of skills/drills practice led by our travel coaches and a 30-minute game against the opposing team.

  • The league is played at 9-foot baskets to ensure players are shooting with the proper shooting form.

  • Each participant must bring their own 27.5 or 28.5 basketball and water bottle to each session. 

  • This Little Warriors ABL focuses on individual and team skill development, which includes: ball handling with both hands, jump stops, passing, advanced pivoting, shooting on the move, court spacing, fast breaks, man-to-man defense, help defense, and rebounding.
